CORNELIUS, N.C. - Jimmy Spencer was fired by Morgan McClure Motorsports, just days after he was arrested and accused of interfering with police officers as they attempted to serve a warrant on his son.

Spencer has driven 25 races for the team this season without posting a top-10 finish. The team didn't indicate whether the firing was because of Spencer's arrest.

On Sunday night, officers went to Spencer's home to arrest James Jonathan Spencer Jr., 18, on a misdemeanor charge of injury to personal property. He is accused of pouring paint on two cars at a Cornelius home Oct. 6.

SAO PAULO, Brazil - Sao Caetano defender Serginho died after collapsing during a Brazilian championship soccer match.The 30-year-old player likely suffered cardiac arrest, doctor Marco Aurelio Cunha said. The official cause of death was not immediately released.Serginho collapsed away from the play 59 minutes into the match against Sao Paulo at Morumbi Stadium.

LINZ, Austria - Serena Williams blamed a headache for her poor play in a 7-6 (5), 6-3 upset loss to qualifier Alina Jidkova in the second round of the Generali Ladies Open.Jidkova, a 25-year-old Russian, never has won a WTA Tour title and she had lost five straight main-draw matches coming into this tournament. She will now take on ninth-seeded Elena Bovina of Russia, who beat Marion Bartoli.Jelena Jankovic of Serbia-Montenegro eliminated seventh-seeded Patty Schnyder.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - Paul Azinger confirmed that he's going to the broadcast booth for ABC Sports, although the former PGA champion and Ryder Cup star says it won't cut into his playing schedule.The Associated Press reported Tuesday that ABC Sports would hire Azinger and six-time major winner Nick Faldo as their golf analysts, replacing Curtis Strange, who resigned in June.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter will be at the Pool City store in the Cranberry Mall from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 6.He will be available to talk with fans and to sign autographs.

Grove City High School graduate Katie Herman, a sophomore on Kutztown University women's volleyball team, broke her own school single-season assist record when she dished out 53 in a five-game loss to Millersville last week.Herman has 1,096 assists this season, breaking her own mark of 1,074 set last year. She has 2,170 career assists, second on the Golden Bears' all-time list.
