Jesse Alfreno caught five passes for 137 yards, including a 51-yard strike from Jim Jaskowak to open the scoring, as the Grove City High School football team downed Region 3 Class AA rival Wilmington 21-0 Friday night.

Jaskowak finished with 219 yards on 10 of 19 passing on a night when the Eagles' ground game sputtered.

Grove City (5-2, 4-1) managed just 48 yards rushing on 31 carries, but fullback Jack Vallely was able to punch into the end zone on a pair of 4-yard runs in the third quarter.

The Eagles' defense pitched their third shutout of the season and limited a potent rushing attack from Wilmington (5-2, 3-2) to just 84 yards on 36 attempts.

Grove City also forced three turnovers.

Cochranton 28, Union 6

- Brett Moore returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown to give Union an early 6-0 lead, but Cochranton scored 21 second-half points for the win.

Tony Mase scored on a pair of 4-yard runs and Craig Garofola added a 35 yard scamper for Cochranton (1-5).

Union fell to 0-6.
