Freeport clinches section golf title

Matt Krchnak earned medalist honors with a 38 and Freeport clinched its seventh section title in 14 years Wednesday with a 211-236 victory over Burrell.

The Yellowjackets (15-2, 11-1) face Riverview today at Oakmont East in a key match-up for WPIAL seeding.

"They have three losses and we have two," Freeport coach Dave Panach said. "I'm hoping that with a win, we can get a top seed and play the first round of WPIAL playoffs at Hiland in Butler."
