Dusan "Duke" and Shirley Ambrose of Cabot celebrated 50 years of marriage with an open house at their farm. They also celebrated with a trip to Niagara Falls, where they took their honeymoon.

The former Shirley Baumgartel married Ambrose on July 23, 1954 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cabot.

They have seven children, Richard Ambrose, Nancy Macurdy, and Susan Osche, all of Cabot; Dale Ambrose of Butler; John Ambrose of Chicora; Eileen Geary of Sarver; and Judye Abernathy of Freeport.

They also have 10 grandchildren.

Ambrose is a full-time farmer. He retired from the Butler County Mushroom Farm in 1976, after working for 30 years.

Mrs. Ambrose is a homemaker.

The couple belongs to St. Luke's Lutheran Church, where Mrs. Ambrose is a member of the handbell choir and has taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.
