SLIPPERY ROCK - Members of the sustainable systems program at Slippery Rock University will host a Good Food Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Boozel Dining Hall on the Slippery Rock campus.The lunch will include vegetarian, vegan and meat options and information about organic ingredients and sustainable food production will be provided.Cost is $4 for students and $6 for nonstudents. Tickets are available at the door.
LAWRENCE COUNTY - The Portersville-Prospect Rotary Club will host a chicken barbecue in the Kildoo Picnic Area at McConnells Mill State Park during the Heritage Days Festival Saturday and Sunday.Dinners will be served from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and younger.
The Cranberry Township police and fire departments will sponsor a Child ID Print-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cranberry Park Fire Station.Parents will receive a "Bio-Doc" which contains the child's fingerprint and photo. The Butler Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold it's a used book sale this weekend at the Clearview Mall.The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.Book, music and video donations are still being accepted in barrels at the Butler Public Library; Friedman's, Bilo and Giant Eagle stores; and the YMCA in Slippery Rock.Proceeds will benefit scholarships and educational projects.
