Woods drops out of 84 Lumber Classic
FARMINGTON, Pa. - Tiger Woods won't be playing in this week's 84 Lumber Classic after all.
After much fanfare last week over Woods' decision to come to the 2-year-old tournament in Western Pennsylvania, the No. 2 golfer in the world has decided not to play.
Woods told the PGA Monday that he was withdrawing from the tournament at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
He did not give a reason, but the withdrawal comes just after Woods and his American teammates were trounced by the Europeans at the Ryder Cup.
More than 80,000 tickets have already been sold for the 84 Lumber Classic, and officials were counting on Woods' participation to draw its largest crowd ever.
