Rock men tie No. 11 Mercyhurst

Nick Christy scored his second goal of the game in the 77th minute Wednesday to give the Slippery Rock University men's soccer team a 1-1 tie with 11th-ranked Mercyhurst.

Dave Keller assisted on the goal and Rock goalkeeper Pat Passewitz made 11 saves. Mercyhurst outshot SRU 34-8.

The Rock (5-0-1) will host Lock Haven at 3 p.m. Saturday.

First-team All-American forward Sarah Arsenault scored her second goal of the game six minutes into overtime to give No. 7 SRU a 4-3 win over Edinboro Wednesday.Arsenault's 11th goal of the year came off an assist by senior Emma Wright. The Rock (6-0-1) came back from a 3-0 deficit with 20 minutes left in regulation.Second team All-PSAC defender Cheryl Wickerham started the rally with her first goal of the year. Arsenault then scored her first goal of the game before All-PSAC forward Lauren Steele tied the game.Freshman goalie Karrine Riggins had eight saves for SRU.The Rock hosts Lock Haven at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Justin Maskal fired a 79 as Butler County Community College golf team (325) defeated Westmoreland County Community College (334) and CCAC-Boyce (356) at Deer Run Wednesday.Justin Kerr shot an 80, Nate Bilski and Rich Schultz each had an 83 and Travis Shingleton had an 84 for the Pioneers, who improved to 13-0 on the season.BC3 will face CCAC-South at South Park today.

The Pioneers (8-3) defeated Community College of Beaver County 30-16, 30-16, 32-30.Katie Jewart had 12 kills, Autumn Burke 14 kills and four blocks, Sarah Morley 40 had assists and five aces, and Shandy Gonzalez had 25 digs.The Pioneers (5-0) play at CCAC-Boyce today.

Eric Olson and Zachary Wolary scored three goals each Wednesday to lead SRU to a 17-1 win over Grove City College.Dylan Drudul, Chris Hokanson and Andy Morrison added two goals each for The Rock (4-5). Goalkeeper Glenn Reepmeyer had five saves and a steal.SRU travels to Penn Stare-Behrend next Thursday.
