BUTLER TWP - The Butler County Community College Adult Literacy Program is offering tutor training workshops for prospective academic tutors from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 at the main campus.

At the workshops, tutors learn about the program's role in the community, the characteristics and learning styles of adult learners, and the instructional materials used. Attendees must complete both sessions to receive tutor certification, and all tutoring positions are in the county.

Tutors will help adults improve their reading skills, math skills, or learn English as a second language.

The deadline for registration is Sept. 24.
