Elmer and Marian Sutter of Belton, Texas, celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a surprise barbecue dinner and pool party.

The former Marian Rennick married Sutter on Aug. 14, 1954 at Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church in Saxonburg.

They have five children, Donna Kempf and Martin Sutter, both of Belton; Debra Copeland of Nolanville, Texas; and Harold Sutter and Robert Sutter, both of Temple, Texas.

They also have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Sutter is a retired mechanic. He worked at Walt's Service Center and Centroplex Ford in Killean, Texas, for 30 years.

Mrs. Sutter is retired. She worked at the IGA MiniMax in Belton for 34 years.
