Knights slip past Highlands

D.J. Thomas scored a pair of goals as the Knoch boys soccer team edged Highlands, 3-2, in its season opener Tuesday.

Thomas scored with 25 minutes left in the first half and six minutes left in the game. Eric Steigner also scored for the Knights.

Knoch plays at Freeport Thursday.

Ben Horner scored the Golden Tornado's lone goal on a penalty kick. Butler (1-1) plays at Shaler Thursday.

The Butler teams claimed a pair of victories over Hempfield.Brittany Grenet finished second for Butler with a time of 14 minutes, 38 seconds in the 20-41 girls win. Ben Porter won the boys meet with a time of 10:30. Butler won that meet 17-42.
