The Butler County Community College volleyball team recently won two matches.

The Pioneers (2-1 overall, 2-0 in the conference) downed CCAC-Boyce 30-17, 30-10 as Autumn Burke had six aces.

BC3 also beat the Community College of Beaver County 30-21, 31-29.

In that contest, Burke had six kills and four aces, and Sarah Morley added 17 assists.

The Baden Bowl women's softball team won the Beaver County League championship for the fourth straight year, posting a 24-0 record.The team is comprised of players from Cranberry Township and surrounding communities. Team members include Sue Buckles, Jody Malone, Jen Davis, Teresa Brewer, Missy Mason, Marci Garuccio, Denise Orlowski, Trish Emling, Tara Hollibaugh, Martha Cypher, Nicole Hill, Carole Ripper, Janeece Best, Babsy Burry, Carrie Davis, Sue Pilarski, Danielle Chacin, Carol Babyak and Nora Slewiorek.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Alex Kovalev scored the go-ahead goal and minor-league goaltender Illya Bryzgalov made 20 saves Thursday, helping Russia beat the United States 3-1 in the World Cup of Hockey.Dainius Zubrus and Viktor Kozlov also scored in the opener for Russia, which dealt Team USA its second consecutive loss.Russia outshot the Americans 45-21.

Darryl Brown, Butler, 145-yard, No. 2 hole recently at Treesdale. He used an 8-iron.
