BC3 golfers win invitational

The Butler County Community College golf team captured the Penn State-New Kensington Invitational at The Links in Spring Church Tuesday in a nine-team field.

The Pioneers scored 324 points, 10 strokes ahead of Westmoreland County Community College. The hosts were third with 343, Potomac State fourth with 351 and CCAC-South fifth at 372.

Travis Shingleton fired a 77 to lead BC3, followed by Justin Kerr (79), Justin Maskal (81), Nate Bilski (87) and Scott Mulhollen. The first four scorers for the Pioneers are Butler High School graduates.

CCAC-Boyce's Darren Kowalski earned medalist honors with a 72.

BC3 begins match action Thursday against Penn State-Beaver at Seven Oaks.
