James and Susan Smith of Butler recently celebrated 40 years of marriage with a family dinner and a trip to Las Vegas.

The former Susan Doutt married Smith on Aug. 22, 1964, at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

They have two children, Jim Smith of Butler and Julie Scott of Herman. They also have two grandchildren.

Smith is retired from AK Steel.

Mrs. Smith works as a program director at Butler Meals on Wheels. She attends Meridian United Presbyterian Church.
