Robert and Violet Sommers of Seven Fields celebrated 50 years of marriage with a cruise to the Bahamas in June, given by their daughters.

The former Violet Sharer married Sommers on July 6, 1954.

They have two daughters, Linda Scolieri and Lori Tominello, both of Cranberry Township. They also have three grandchildren.

Sommers retired in 1996, having worked as a union carpenter and superintendent for Dick Corporation in Pittsburgh. He has served as a financial secretary and a district delegate for the local chapter of the carpenter's union.

Mrs. Sommers is a homemaker.

The couple attends Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church in Cranberry Township.
