Frank looking for three-peat at Lernerville

Chub Frank is looking for a three-peat.

The Bear Lake, Pa. driver of the Late Model No. 1 - a member of the World of Outlaws Late Model series' Dirty Dozen - will be among the drivers in the field at Friday's WoO race at Lernerville Speedway.

Frank won the WoO Late Model race at Lernerville in April, coming from behind to grab the lead and hold it during the final four laps of the feature.

Frank returned to Lernerville June 25 for the MACs race and found victory lane again.

The four-time defending Renegade Dirt Car Series champion, two of Frank's four feature wins this season have been at the Sarver track.

Off the track, Frank has dealt with plenty of adversity. A fire destroyed his Sugar Grove, Pa., race shop in March and his mother died a week after his WoO Late Model victory at Lernerville.

Through Aug. 9, Frank stood sixth in the WoO points race with 3,612. Steve Francis leads the series with 3,786 points, followed by Rick Eckert at 3,757, Scott Bloomquist at 3,741, Dale McDowell at 3,690, Bart Hartman at 3,630, and Frank.

There have been 12 different winners in 31 WoO Late Model feature races so far. Bloomquist, McDowell and Eckert have won five features each.

The April show at Lernerville featured a single-show track record of 65 Late Model cars from 11 states.

David Scott was the highest local finisher in the April race, starting 17th and finishing sixth. Scott flipped his No. 3D early in last week's Late Model feature at Lernerville.

Time trials begin at 7:15 p.m. Friday. Racing begins at 8 p.m. The feature will be 50 laps and pays $10,000 to the winner.

Pure Stocks will also be on the card.

Regular points racing returns to Lernerville Aug. 20. The track's points season concludes Aug. 27.
