Zelienople Rotary hands out awards
ZELIENOPLE - The Zelienople Rotary Club on Tuesday honored six Seneca Valley High School graduates and a Seneca Valley junior during a dinner at the Community Park.
The club presented $1,000 college scholarships to Jessica Cheman of Harmony, and Sarah Bucklew and Megan Doerfler, both of Zelienople. Kendra Luek, who did not attend the dinner, also received a $1,000 college scholarship.
The club also awarded a $500 college scholarship to Gina Prioletti and Kendra Luek, both of Harmony.
Scott George of Zelienople was awarded a $1,000 vocational-technical scholarship.
Kristia Mitchell of Zelienople was honored at the dinner as well. The Seneca Valley junior was selected by the club to participate in the Rotary Outstanding Vocational Awards program, which is an intensive educational program for vocational youth leaders. Mitchell attended District 7280's first ROVA Leadership Camp in March.
Each year the Zelienople Rotary Club awards college and vocational scholarships to Seneca Valley seniors who have strong academic records and exhibit a spirit of volunteerism. The club awards the scholarships at a steak dinner held in honor of the students and their families.
The Zelienople club raises funds year-round for a variety of community and international projects.
