David and Betty Cumberland of Meridian celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner Saturday at the Kaufman House in Zelienople. They will also celebrate with a cruise to the Panama Canal this fall.

The former Betty Holmes married Cumberland on June 26, 1954 at Fenelton United Methodist Church.

They have three children, Jacquelyn Pietrowski of Munhall and Laura Nichol and Jeffrey Cumberland, both of Meridian.

They also have eight grandchildren.

A former turn foreman, Cumberland retired from Armco Steel in 1993.

Mrs. Cumberland is a homemaker.

The couple attends First Baptist Church in Butler. They enjoy traveling and staying in motor homes.
