Butler Road Race set for Saturday

The 29th annual Butler Road Race will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting at the Butler County Courthouse.

Early packet pickup will be held at Family Services of Butler Memorial Hospital (the old Armory) at 216 N. Washington St. from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.

Registration will also take place during this time or at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Diamond Park.

Entry fee is $16 for ages 17 to 59; $10 for 16-and-under and 60-and-over.

Families of four or more who register will also receive a $25 gift certificate for the Texas Roadhouse in the Clearview Mall.

Tammy Slusser, winner of last year's women's 5-mile run, will return to defend her title.

The number of applications for this year's race has been comparable to last year's, according to BRR president Mike Franko.

"It's right around the same amount, and Saturday mornings are always a good turnout," said Franko.

"We'll see how the weather is. The committee has been working hard. We're doing what's been done the past 28 years and hope everything will fall into place."
