Gogolin 50th anniversary
Matt and Dee Gogolin of Valencia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner May 30 at the Kaufman House in Zelienople.
The former Delores Zupancic married Gogolin on June 1, 1954, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Winchester, Va.
They have five children, Matthew Gogolin, Kris Frisbee, Lynn Neese and Michelle Gow, all of Valencia; and Mark Gogolin of Charlotte, N.C.
They also have 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Gogolin is a retired mason and b
. He has served on the church council at Saint Kilian Roman Catholic Church; was a Valencia councilman for nine years and mayor for 12 years; and chief of the Valencia Fire Department, where he is a life member, for six years. He is a former president of the Associated Trades and Crafts Union and a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He has taught archery at All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Etna and coached Little League. In 1996, he was chairman of the Valencia 100th anniversary committee. He now serves on the Valencia recreation board.
He enjoys painting, woodworking and gardening.
Mrs. Gogolin worked for Bell Telephone and is retired from Stepping Stones, a childcare center. She is a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary Valencia Fire Department. In 2004, she retired from the Judge of Elections.
She enjoys reading and cooking.
The couple attends St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church.
