James and Carol "Lynn" Bayer of Butler celebrated 40 years of marriage with a family dinner on May 30 at The Villa in Cadogan.

The former Carol Follmeyer married Bayer on May 23, 1964 at St. John Roman Catholic in Coylesville.

They have four children, James Bayer Jr. of Hamilton, Ohio; Christine Gooderham of Pittsburgh; and Cara Fazzino and Jamie Bayer, both of Butler.

They also have six grandchildren.

Bayer is retired from AK Steel.

Mrs. Bayer is a homemaker.

The couple attends St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.
