COMING ATTRACTIONS

Saddle up for the 13th annual Butler Bicycle Safety Rodeo planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18 at the Island Playground.

A day of games, food, bicycle riding and entertainment is planned.

Volunteers are needed to help with the activities and to donate food, such as hot dogs, buns, chips, snack cakes and beverages.

UNIONTOWN - Four area crafters will participate in the Pennsylvania Arts and Crafts Country Festival from May 28 to 31 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds, Route 119.Karen Cooper and Charlotte Ruediger, both of Butler and featured in a Butler Eagle story earlier this year, will display their horse hair art earthenware.Shelley McClearn of Valencia will show her Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls, and Susan Hamilton of Butler will show her sculpey designs.The show hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.Tickets cost $4.50 for adults, $4 for senior citizens age 65 and older, $1 for children 6 to 12 and free for children younger than 6. Two groups are called Red Barn theaters because, well, the shows take place in red barns.One group goes by the name Red Barn Players and performs in the Red Barn Theatre (note the "re" ending) on Ellwood-Zelienople Road, Franklin Township, Beaver County.The other goes by Red Barn Theater (ends in "er") and operates from 3101 McCully Road in Allison Park.The 50th season at the Red Barn Theatre on Ellwood-Zelienople Road this summer will include:"Play It Again Sam," a comedy by Woody Allen, June 4 and 5, 10 to 12 and 16 to 19"The Foreigner," a comedy by Larry Shue, July 9 and 10, 15 to 17 and 21 to 24"The Prisoner of Second Avenue," a comedy by Neil Simon, Aug. 13 and 14, 19 to 21 and 25 to 28"Pump Boys and Dinettes," a musical, Sept. 17 and 18, 22 to 25, 29 and 30 and Oct. 1 and 2.Curtain is at 8 p.m. All seats are reserved. Admission is $9 for plays and $10 for musicals. Call 724-773-7150.For its 44th season, the Red Barn Theater in Allison Park will stage:"Recipe for Murder," a thriller by J.D. Robins, June 1 to 13"Cheating Cheaters," a drama by John Patrick, June 29 to July 11"Rain in the Hollows," a play by Sean O'Leary, July 27 to Aug. 8"Glengarry Glen Ross," a drama by David Mamet, Aug. 24 to Sept. 5"The Cocktail Hour," a play by A.R. Gurney, Sept. 21 to Oct. 3.Individual tickets cost $12 for adults and $9 for senior citizens and students.
