Bertha McKinney of Karns City celebrated her 80th birthday on May 22 with an open house at the Concord Presbyterian Church social hall in Hooker.

The former Bertha Reep was born May 7, 1924, in Fairview. She married James Christie on June 4, 1946. He is deceased. She later married Merle McKinney on June 18, 1977. He is also deceased.

She has four children, Judy Stewart of Hooker, Jim Christie of West Ridge, Va., Becky Christie of Salem, Mass., and Alan McKinney of North Washington. She also has four grandchildren.

Mrs. McKinney is a 50-year member of Concord Presbyterian Church in Hooker, where she has been been a deacon, a teacher and a member of the choir.
