Flora E. Roper

Flora E. Roper, 91, of East Brady died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 10, 1912, in Lower Hillville, Perry Township, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Kline D. and Pearl E. Seybert Jordan.

She was a 1930 graduate of Karns City High School, enjoyed music and had traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.

Mrs. Roper had been a shell component gauger at Oil Well Supply in Oil City, during World War II. She also had been a receptionist at Willows Motel in Lancaster for 19 years.

She was a member of Queenstown Methodist Church; American Legion Auxiliary Post 488, Bradys Bend; and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 230, East Brady/New Bethlehem.

Surviving are a brother, Henry F. Jordan of Mercer; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Carl L. Roxbury, whom she married May 19, 1934, died Aug. 12, 1939; and her second husband, Frank M. Roper, whom she married March 18, 1944, died Feb. 19, 1957. Two brothers, five sisters and a stepson also preceded her in death.

ROPER - Friends of Flora E. Roper, who died Friday, May 7, 2004, will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. today at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, East Brady. Services will follow at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Russell, pastor of the United Methodist Church of East Brady, officiating.Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Visiting Nurses Association, c/o Jameson Memorial Hospital, South Phillips Street, New Castle, PA 16101.
