Butler grabs 1st win of season
Tony Rossmiller pitched seven strong innings, striking out nine and walking no one as the Butler baseball team recorded its first win of the season with a 4-2 road triumph over Ellwood City Friday.
Butler (1-10) scored two runs in the top of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and Rossmiller did the rest.
Adam Miller and Aaron Ordy drove in runs for the Golden Tornado, who will play Plum Saturday.
In other action:
Mike Stitt, Josh Smith, David Slagle and Mike Stimac each had three RBI to pace Karns City to a 15-0, four-inning victory over A-C Valley.
The Gremlins scored 11 runs in the first inning.
Derek Carmichael and Kyle Hilliard each homered and Adam Milanovich had two singles, a triple and was the winning pitcher in Union's 9-4 triumph over West Forest.
Jim Jaskowak pitched three innings of shutout, one-hit relief to lead Grove City to a 4-2 win over Union-New Castle.
Knoch scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to surprise West Allegheny, 5-4. Austin Leffler doubled home two runs, Josh Sasse singled home the tying run and Bob Kruth produced the game-winning single with one out. Leffler homered in the game as well.
Moniteau gave up 10 runs in the top of the third inning to fall to Ford City 15-0 in a game shortened by the mercy rule.
