Anita A. 'Rooney' Gibson Wymer
Anita A. "Rooney" Gibson Wymer, 72, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Butler, died March 28 at Tandem Health Care Center in Sarasota.
Born in Bruin, July 24, 1931, she was a daughter of Lester and Loretta Schumacher Gibson.
Raised in Butler, she moved to Sarasota 40 years ago and had been a waitress at Martine's Restaurant in Sarasota, a quite popular and famous Florida restaurant .
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Sarasota and a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Carol "Kathy") Black of Sarasota; two grandchildren, Marine Corps Sgt. Michael Black in Japan and Rachel Black of Sarasota; and three great-grandchildren, Sonya, Timmy and Michaela Black, all in Japan. A brother, James Schumacher of Oil City; a sister-in-law, Dolly Gibson of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank "Bud" Gibson; and a sister, Patricia Walker.
WYMER - Cremation services were held in Sarasota. Local friends and relatives of Anita A. "Rooney" Gibson Wymer, who died Sunday, March 28, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday atGEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. Inurnment will follow at Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 9:40 a.m. Friday at the church.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
