Man charged in fondling case
CENTER TWP - A township man remains jailed for allegedly fondling three boys during sleepovers at his home.
State police Tuesday charged Jerry Alan Valecko, 41, of 283 Holyoke Road with three counts each of endangering the welfare of children and indecent assault.
The charges were filed after the parents of a 12-year-old boy notified authorities that Valecko had assaulted their son during an April 2 sleepover.
The boy's allegations prompted an investigation by police and the Butler County Children and Youth Services agency.
Police learned of other crimes allegedly committed by the defendant between 2001 and 2003.
An 11-year-old boy said Valecko fondled his genitals at least three times since the summer of 2001, according to court documents.
Police said another 12-year-old boy reported that the defendant molested him in a similar manner last November. The boy said Valecko on Dec. 31 again tried to fondle him but he thwarted the attempted assault by rolling over on a couch.
Valecko, during an interview with police at the barracks, "admitted to the conduct disclosed by the victims and described details of these disclosures similar to the (boys') versions of the events," documents said.
He later provided police with a written statement confessing to the crimes.
Valecko was arraigned Tuesday by District Justice Kevin O'Donnell and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond.
