The Western Pennsylvania Youth Basketball Club is presenting awards to four area players.

The organization named Katie Kepple of Karns City District 9 Player of the Year and Jence Rhoads of Slippery Rock Co-District 10 Player of the Year.

Freeport's Julie McCorkle was named District 7 Class AA Player of the Month for March, and Mars' Kara Hudac was named District 7 Co-Freshman of the Month for March.

Awards will be presented at the Eat'n Park Western Pennsylvania Basketball Hall of Fame Banquet May 6 at the Sheraton Station Square Hotel.

Seneca Valley graduate Alex Intihar, a junior on the Grove City College golf team, carded a 78 to lead the Wolverines at the Westminster College Invitational recently at New Castle Country Club.Grove City placed seventh out of 12 teams at the event.

A Knoch High School trio of Lauren Wick, Kristen Gagen and Carol Cress finished second in the recent 3-on-3 basketball tournament hosted by Knox High School.

The PALightning seventh grade AAU basketball team won the Drill 4 Skill championship last weekend at LaRoche College.Butler County players on the squad include Rachel Doutt, Ashley Oluschak and Becky Smith of Butler and Jenna Rinker of Slippery Rock.The Lightning went 5-0 in the tournament.
