11:55 p.m. Wednesday - A car driven by David Piper, 23, of 110½ W. Quarry St. and a pickup driven by a 17-year-old East Butler boy, whom police did not identify, collided at East Cunningham and South Cliff streets. Police said Piper did not stop following the crash. Piper was later found and charged with accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle, driving with a suspended license and a stop sign violation.8:36 a.m. March 19 - A car driven by David Arnold, 24, of 4 Snyder Lane struck the rear of a school bus on Kittanning Street. There were no passengers on the bus and no injuries were reported. Arnold was cited for careless driving.
11:55 p.m. Wednesday - Jerilyn Rasch, 32, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.6:10 p.m. Tuesday - Daniel Merten, 20, of Butler was arrested at Giant Eagle, Clearview Mall in Center Township when he returned to the store a short time after allegedly trying to steal several bottles of cough syrup and was warned to stay away.A store security officer detained Merten, following a struggle, until police arrived. The defendant was charged with retail theft, simple assault, trespass and harassment, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bond.5:45 p.m. March 16 - Cars driven by Nancy Hutchison, 56, of Karns City and Lynn Sontum, 62, of Saxonburg collided on Bonniebrook Road in Oakland Township. Hutchison, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken with minor injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital.
Wednesday - Morris Wheeler reported someone killed 12 waterfowl he owned at his Jackson Center-Pole Road home in Worth Township, Mercer County. The birds were killed between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the barracks at 724-662-6162.
