Five Butler County area high school basketball teams survived the first round of the PIAA Tournament and will continue competition either Tuesday or Wednesday.

The following are capsule previews of each team's game:

I was pleased how we entered the season. We had a lot of new faces and a lot of girls in new roles, and we've been very successful." -Greensburg Central Catholic coach Ed Pultz."They have a size advantage. We'll have to box out and do an extra good job controlling the boards and sprinting back. Our quickness should help. We've been playing good team offense and good team defense. We had different girls pick us up each night." -Karns City coach Chris Bellis.
