Rose 60th anniversary

Daniel and Betty Rose of Marwood celebrated 60 years of marriage with a family dinner Jan. 4 at Ponderosa Steak House in Butler.

The former Betty Spangler married Daniel Rose on Jan. 4, 1944, at the parsonage of Betty's home church, Moxham Lutheran Church at Johnstown by the Rev. George Melhorn. Rose was on furlough from the 99th Infantry Division at the time.

They have a daughter, Danell Homsher of Vero Beach, Fla.

They also have two grandchildren.

Rose retired as a production supervisor for Heinz Corporation after 33½ years. He is a Purple Heart veteran, wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to war just in time to walk across the Ludendorf Railroad Bridge that crossed the Rhine River just six days before the bridge collapsed.

He volunteers for St. Barnabas Charitable Foundation, the H.J. Heinz corporate volunteer program, Lifesteps Rotary pancake breakfast and Visiting Nurse Foundation.

Mrs. Rose is a retired registered nurse.

Both are members of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
