Mary Cypher of Butler, recently celebrated her 85th birthday.

The former Mary Becker was born Feb. 19, 1919. She married Howard Cypher on April 27, 1937. He died on March 15, 1997.

She has three daughters, Shirley Snyder of Fenelton, Joanne Meehan of Butler and Patricia Parsell of Chicora; and two sons, Paul Cypher and Thomas Cypher, both of Butler. Two sons and a daughter are deceased.

She also has 15 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cypher enjoys crocheting and gardening.

She is a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Herman, where she bakes pies and cakes for the fish fries.
