William and Avanell Calhoun of Butler celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family gathering.

The former Avanell Nulph married William Calhoun on Oct. 18, 1938, in Sligo.

They have two children; a son, Charles Calhoun of Florence, Texas; and a daughter, Betty Uber of Butler.

They also have four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Calhoun is retired from Bordelle Ice Cream.

Mrs. Calhoun is retired from Troutman Department Store and works as a homemaker.

Both are members of First United Methodist Church.
