'Sense and Sensibility' staged at Grove City

With Liam Wise as Edward Ferrars, Hannah Foley as Marianne Dashwood, Lexie Cavolo as Lucy Steele and Abby Weller as Elinor Dashwood, a new adaptation of “Sense and Sensibility” will be presented Nov. 21 through 23 at Grove City High School.

GROVE CITY — Grove City High School will present the play “Sense and Sensibility” by Kate Hamill and based on the book by Jane Austen at 7 p.m. Nov. 21, 22 and 23 and at 1 p.m. Nov. 23 in the high school “Little” Theatre, 511 Highland Ave.

Programs help seniors share in holiday season

“Santa” made a visit last year to Don Shearer, AKA “Coon Dog,” a resident in the Skilled Nursing section of Lund Care Center at Concordia at Cabot.

Butler County has more than 28,000 residents aged 60 and over. Many will be alone in the coming holiday season, cut off from families by either distance or time.

Soldier killed in Vietnam impossible to forget

Jack Cypher, a good friend of Ed “Kow” Kiezkowski, who was killed in Vietnam, May 28, 1969 holds a photo of Ed. On the table is Life magazine from the 1970s that featured 300 soldiers and sailors who were killed in action in Vietnam, including Kiezkowski. Above, Kiezkowski apparently wrote a message during his time in the service to someone special to him.

Edward "Kow" Kiezkowski continues to be fondly remembered 50 years after his death in Vietnam.

Patriotic concert to benefit veterans' dental program

2nd annual event slated for Sunday

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will host its second annual Music for Medicine Veterans Day concert “One Nation Under God” at 2 p.m. Sunday to raise money for Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center's program to provide dental care for veterans who lack coverage. Pictured is last year's concert.

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church is invested in the community and does what it can to help those in need, said John Ripper, a 10-year church member.
