Clarifications for another letter
I would like to clarify some misinformation stated in Mr. Thomas’ letter in the Oct. 17 Butler Eagle. I am the other candidate for Franklin Township supervisor he is referring to.
I am one member of the seven-member Planning Commission, not the Zoning Board. The Planning Commission makes no decisions; they only make recommendations to the supervisors. The Zoning Hearing Board makes the final decisions, subject of course to a judge’s ruling it challenged.
I was chosen by the voters in the spring election to be on the November ballot. I was not promoted by the supervisors from the Planning Commission to candidate.
Mr. Thomas is correct saying that the Planning Commission members do receive a small meeting payment. However, the very first meeting following my appointment, more than 11 years ago, I made it part of the record that I would not accept any payment for my service on the Planning Commission and have not received one cent for my service.
Clearly with Mr. Thomas’ current letter and a letter printed a few weeks ago, he has concerns and issues with the township.
As a Planning Commission member and a candidate for township supervisor, I would welcome the opportunity to sit down with him and listen to his concerns and discuss them with him.
I agree with Mr. Thomas on the fact that on Nov. 2 every voter has the right to vote for the candidate who they feel is most qualified and will serve the entire township the best.
