Biden vs. Trump on health care

President Joe Biden, through the Inflation Reduction Act, capped insulin for seniors on Medicare at $35. (Republicans did not vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, and blocked $35 insulin for all patients.)

Recently, President Biden has talked several drug manufacturers into lowering their price on inhalers to $35 starting June 1, 2024.

Also under the Affordable Care Act, Medicare can negotiate with drug companies to lower the price of 10 drugs starting in 2026. This will lower the national debt and save seniors millions of dollars. The drugs under consideration are Eliquis, Jardiance, Januvia, Farxiga, Entresto, Embrel, Imbruvica, Stelara, Fiasp and Novolog.

Medicare now has an Extra Help program through Medicare Part D for low-income recipients including lower drug premiums, $0 deductible and lower out-of-pocket costs. Visit go.medicare.gov/ExtraHelp.

Former President Donald Trump wants to “cut waste” in Medicare and Medicaid. According to the Office of Management and Budget, the cost of running the programs if only 2% of the total budget. That means 98% of the money goes to the recipients. Major cuts to the programs would cut benefits.

Former President Trump also wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Over 20 million Americans depend on the Affordable Care Act for their health care.
