Sentencings

The following defendants were sentenced Thursday in Common Pleas Court by Judge Timothy F. McCune.

Jeffrey Lee Ferguson, 62, of Grove City was sentenced to serve 12 to 24 months in prison, but was immediately paroled to serve 84 months of probation, including 265 days of house arrest, after pleading guilty to his third driving under the influence offense in a case filed by state police following a May 2020 incident and making a false statement on a firearm purchase or transfer in a separate case filed by state police following an April 2020 incident. The sentence included paying a $2,500 fine and completing alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pick-up. Other charges were dismissed in a plea agreement.

Michael Joseph West, 47, of Butler was sentenced to pay fines totaling $1,025 and serve 90 days on electronic monitoring after pleading guilty to summary charges of failing to stop and give information or render aid, and driving with a suspended license filed by Butler police following a December 2019 incident.

Brittany Beatty Austel, 25, of Butler was sentenced to serve 15 days of house arrest followed by 42 months of probation, pay a $1,000 fine, and complete alcohol highway safety school and litter pick-up after pleading guilty to charges of fleeing or eluding police, DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia filed by state police following a February 2020 incident.

Ashley Lee Deuso, 35, of Butler was sentenced to serve 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by Butler police following a May 2019 incident.

Zhaojun Xie, 31, of Mars was sentenced to serve the first 72 hours of her six-month probation in prison, pay fines totaling $1,050 and complete alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pickup after pleading guilty to a charge of DUI filed by Adams Township police following a May 2020 incident and a charge of retail theft filed by Cranberry Township police in May this year.

Wesley Harrison Frank Jr., 37, unknown address, was sentenced to serve a total of 15 to 36 months in prison for his guilty pleas to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Butler police following a December 2009 incident and theft filed by Penn Township police in December 2010.

Steven Harold Glomb, 55, of Butler was sentenced to serve six months of probation, pay fines totaling $300 and pay $500 in restitution after pleading guilty to charges of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property and reckless driving filed by Butler Township police following a December 2020 incident.

Kevin William Koontz, 49, of Mars was sentenced to serve a total of 30 months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance filed by Butler police in May 2020 and a charge of DUI filed by Butler police, also in May 2020. His sentence included completing 25 hours of community service, paying a $300 fine and completing alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pick-up.

Michael Ross Edinger, 23, of Butler was sentenced to serve nine months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of theft filed by state police following an August 2019 incident.

Gary L. Reed Jr., 50, of Butler was sentenced to serve a total of six months of house arrest followed by 60 days of house arrest and 60 months of probation, pay fines totaling $2,000 and complete alcohol safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pick-up after pleading guilty to his second DUI offense and a charge of driving with a suspended license filed by state police in March 2020.

Jeremy Michael Ruble, 44, of Youngstown, Ohio, was sentenced to serve six months of probation and 14 days of house arrest, pay fines totaling $1,025 and complete alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and litter pick-up after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and careless driving filed by state police in March 2020. Other charges were dismissed in a plea agreement.
