Joseph Timko

Joseph Martin Timko, 60, of Slippery Rock, Brady Township, passed away at his residence suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, of natural causes.

He was born March 20, 1961, in Pittsburgh, to Albert Gerome Timko Jr. and Joan Lucy DiCarlo Timko.

He married Joan Marie Conwell on Oct. 10, 1987.

He recently retired from Slippery Rock University, where he worked in the residence life department as a maintenance and repair man.

Joe graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 1980, and later received his bachelor's degree in business management from Penn State University (Behrend).

He was a devoted father and husband. He loved spending time outdoors. He spent his weekends showing his '69 AMX and '04 Crossfire at car shows with his daughter Anna. He was also an avid fisherman, who enjoyed trout and charter fishing on Lake Erie.

Joe also enjoyed collecting guns and target shooting. He was always willing to help anybody fix anything.

He had attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Butler.

Survivors include his wife, Joan at home; two daughters, Anna M. Timko of Slippery Rock, and Susan L. (Ben) Gillian of Lebanon, Pa.; his sister, Lynne Timko of New York, N.Y.; and his brother, Eric (Debbie) Timko of Edinboro.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald.

TIMKO — The family of Joseph Martin Timko, who died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021, will receive friends from 1 p.m. until a celebration of life service at 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

Friends may gather inside the building and later proceed to a special reserved space outdoors, where refreshments will be provided.

Memorial contributions may be given to Slippery Rock Fire and Rescue or the Slippery Rock School District Weekend Food Program.
