Butler County Community College’s Kids on Campus will feature 17 new full-day selections, including Engineering Camp, Robotics Jr. and Lego Challenge.

The summer enrichment program will offer a total of 31 in-person camps on BC3’s main campus in Butler Township from June 14 to July 29.

Weeklong, in-person camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

Kids on Campus, in its 22nd year, is temporarily changing its format from half-day to full-day camps. The change will keep students safely in one group throughout the week, explained Eva Lowerre, BC3’s Kids on Campus coordinator.

“This is exciting because students will have more time to dive into a topic more thoroughly,” she said.

Kids on Campus is intended for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. In-person camps are divided among those in kindergarten and first grade, second through fourth grades, and fifth through eighth grades.

“Kids on Campus has always been the perfect opportunity to do something you love or to try something completely new,” Lowerre said. “The best part of the camps is seeing the friendships formed through all of our hands-on activities. The connections that are made last over the years and have been an honor for me to watch.”

Kids on Campus also will offer more than 100 virtual camps, such as JavaScript Developer Jam, Make Your First Video Game and YouTube Content Creators, all offered through Black Rocket, which has online science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs for those ages 8 to 14.

Weeklong virtual camps will be held in three-hour sessions Mondays through Fridays from June 7 to Aug. 20. Virtual camps are available in morning and afternoon sessions.

“Every program is powered by the camper’s imagination and designed to bring their ideas to life in a fun, hands-on learning environment,” Lowerre said. “From concept to creation, students will demonstrate their masterpiece to the world at the end of each week.”

In-person camps cost $158 per child each week. Children must wear a face mask or face shield. Virtual camps start at $135 per week.

Child care is available before and after in-person camps. In-person class size and the number of in-person camps are limited.
