Butler County's great daily newspaper

Let common sense prevail in county

After reading the article in today’s Butler Eagle about the continuation of the lawsuit against Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Butler County I have a few questions I would like answered.

1) Why was this lawsuit started?

2) Why is it now continuing?

3) It is politically motivated? (it seems that way)

4) What is the cost to the taxpayers of Butler County? (in order for a lawsuit to not be frivolous it must be cost effective)

5) Do the taxpayers of Butler County have a right to know what these costs will be? Please include our portion of the costs to defend this lawsuit too because as residents of Butler County we will be on the hook for both sides.

The CDC, Dr. Fauci, our nation’s leader when it comes to infectious disease, and the majority of this nation’s scientific community all seem to be recommending the exact course of action that Governor Wolf and other of this nation’s governors are following.

Dr. Fauci’s words to the United States Senate were that if we move too rapidly to reopen our businesses we could face more suffering and deaths, is that what we’re looking for? Do we have someone on the County staff who’s more knowledgeable?

As far as the argument that was quoted in the paper two weeks ago about Butler County not being Allegheny County, you’re right we’re not. We are however linked as neighbors and many of our residents travel back and forth between these counties for work and recreation.

This COVID-19 has already caused more deaths in the United States than we lost during the Vietnam War. Let’s take a deep breath, get on board and defeat this.

Oh and if we’re going to continue this lawsuit to the bitter end,

6) Could you please let me and the other dissenting residents of Butler County know how we can deduct the amount of tax dollars used in this suit from our individual County tax bill? And if it’s not allowed could you please hire an attorney to represent us in a class action suit?
