ADAMS TWP — Mars senior Michael Carmody has been named the leading rebounder in the nation by MaxPreps.

Carmody averaged 19.5 rebounds per game this season and finished his high school career with 1,156 rebounds and 1,182 points.

Mars finished runner-up in the WPIAL Class 5A tournament and won its eighth consecutive section title.

Planets receive section honors

ADAMS TWP — Six Mars varsity basketball have received Section 3-5A honors this season.

Michael Carmody and Mihali Sfanos made boys first team at forward and guard, respectively. Sophomore point guard Zach Schlegel made second team.

On the girls side, guards Bella Pelaia and Alek Johnson made first team with forward Ava Black making second team.

Mars coach Rob Carmody was named Section 3-5A Boys Coach of the Year.
