Marietta H. Wise

Marietta H. Wise, 80, of Millwood, W.Va., passed away on April 1, 2020, at her home after a brief illness.

She was born May 11, 1939, in Memphis, Tenn., and was a born-again Christian.

While raising her children, she worked in mental health, managing group homes in South Carolina. She was also an EMT, a job she really loved doing. Later on, she worked for Jackson Home Health, assisting clients throughout Jackson County. She spent her entire life striving to help others in any way she could. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, James G. Wise; one daughter, Diane (Roger) Thorpe of North Charleston, S.C.; and two sons, Victor (Kim) Strickland of Wheatland, Wyo., and Carl (Cindy) Strickland of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; five grandchildren, Marietta, Ashton, Shelby, William and Nicholas; and one great-grandchild, James.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marietta Hughes; and one brother, Richard Hughes Jr.

WISE — A memorial service will be held at a later date for Marietta H. Wise, who died Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.
