Mars United Presbyterian Church begins the Hanging of the Greens at 9 a.m. Saturday. Anyone wishing to help with the decorating of the church is encouraged to meet in Tarry N Talk.The first Sunday of Advent will begin Sunday with the lighting of the HOPE candle. Communion will also be offered during the worship hour.

Meridian Presbyterian Church will have Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and a service at 11 a.m. Sunday, a Bible study at noon Tuesday, and quilting at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Old Union Presbyterian Church is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys, clothing or gift cars for the Lighthouse's Christmas Toy Shoppe. The donation deadline is Dec. 9.The church is also taking donations to provide Christmas hygiene packets for Butler High School students. Put items in the Lighthouse bin in the lobby.

The church participates in the Giving Tree on the next two Sundays. Take an ornament from the tree, purchase the item indicated and return unwrapped gifts by Dec. 15. It will benefit residents of Butler County's Lowrie Place.There will be 9 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship services.

St. John's Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing celebrates Holy Communion during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.There will be a short congregation meeting after the service to review the proposed 2020 church budget plus review nominations for the Church Council and Cemetery Association vacancies for 2020.The Cause of the month for December is the needy family adopted by the church for the Christmas Season. Both monetary and wrapped gifts are being accepted through Dec. 15.
