A free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will conclude for the season with Bill May presenting The History of Alameda Park at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Moraine State Park will be the site a program on “Venomous Snakes of PA” at 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the McDanel's Launch Area on the North Shore. A “Salamander Safari” program is planned for 4 p.m. Aug. 23, and a Star Party will be hosted from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the bike rental parking lot, 157 North Shore Drive. Call 724-368-9185.

McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, just over the county line into Lawrence County off Route 422, will be the site of an outdoor cooking demonstration of Pizza on the Grill from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kildoo Picnic Area. The historic gristmill is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, including Labor Day. Autumn hours after Labor Day will be 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Tours are given at 1 and 2 p.m. Admission is free. Call 724-368-8811.
