BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have Debby Shutak presenting the music Sunday.

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, has Lenten study at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Lenten Easter children’s collection items Sunday are shorts or shirts. Place them in the box in the narthex.

The Little Red Church offering for the Helping Hand Fund will be taken Sunday at both services.

Sunday the confirmation class will meet at 5 p.m., and the youth group will meet at 6 p.m.

CONCORD PRESBYTERIAN

Concord Presbyterian Church, 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, has Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. traditional worship service.

Movie night will begin with 6:30 p.m. snacks and fellowship and a 7 p.m. movie in the sanctuary Thursday.

The inside/outside work call begins 9 a.m. Saturday. The annual Easter egg hunt begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Bible study will be at 6 p.m. Sunday. Bell rehearsal is at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by 7 p.m. choir rehearsal.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., will have the “One Great Hour of Sharing” offering on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. This offering benefits disaster assistance, hunger and self development programs.

The People for Peace study group meets at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Assembly Room.

The Maundy Thursday service at 8 p.m. April 18 will include the Holy Communion and the Order of Tenebrae “Service of Darkness.”

FAITH UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext., has 9:30 a.m. Sunday school followed by a 10:30 a.m. worship service.

During the week, session meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and the AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. April 18 and 8:30 a.m. April 20.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Berean class of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have a potluck social at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Youth Center.

Sunday’s service schedule begins with 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes, an 11 a.m. worship service followed by lunch and a 1:15 p.m. worship service.

The primary and junior Sunday schools’ Easter social is noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist Youth Center.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will have a 10 a.m. Palm Sunday worship service with Holy Communion. It will include a palm procession, drama and music.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., opens Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 5 to 7 p.m. April 18. No proof of income is required. Each family may fill one large bag. Donations of clothing only are accepted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the church or anytime Grace’s Closet is open. Call ahead to schedule a drop off of more than four bags of clothing. Palm Sunday worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m.

All are invited to decorate the sidewalks outside the church with chalk palms at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

GRACEWAY

Graceway meets for a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

Michelle Huff and Maryann Mahan provide the music for the worship service celebrating Palm Sunday.

Highland Presbyterian Church

Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, will observe Palm Sunday with the waving of the palms and music at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The Maundy Thursday service starts with dinner at 6 p.m. April 18 followed by a 7 p.m. worship service. There will be a re-enactment of the Last Supper. Communion will be served.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., has the Rev. Leigh Benish delivering the message at the 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday service. The bell choir will ring. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering is being received the next two weeks.

Volunteers are needed to prepare community lunches at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Hosts are needed for the fellowship hour following worship. Use the sign-up sheet on the deacons’ table.

The April food request is dried beans and rice.

The bell choir will have a rehearsal at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

INTERSECTION CHURCH

The Intersection Community Church, 120 Walker Ave., will have Steve Atkinson of CWI (Christians Witnessing to Israel) as the guest speaker at the 8:45 a.m. Sunday worship service. Following the service, there will be a 10 a.m. Easter celebration with the youths presenting a drama. Lunch will be provided. RSVP at myintersection.org.

The Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. with Communion.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The transition team of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the church office.

Lenten lunches will continue at noon Friday with the Rev. Jim Kirk as speaker.

On Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week worship will be at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

The worship/membership committee will meet at 12:15 p.m. for its monthly meeting in the Library Room.

The community Easter egg hunt will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.

Pastor’s Bible study continues during Holy Week and will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday and at 9:30 a.m. April 18.

MERIDIAN PRESBYTERIAN

Meridian Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave., has an Easter egg hunt following morning worship service on Palm Sunday.

Maundy Thursday worship and Communion service will begin at 7 p.m. April 18.

There will be a community Good Friday breakfast at 7 a.m. April 19 at McCaslin Hall. This is a free breakfast. An offering will be taken.

MT. CHESTNUT PRESBYTERIAN

The youth group of Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 W. Old 422, meets at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The food cupboard is at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Hope For Broken Hearts, a support group for families dealing with loved ones in addiction, meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The church has a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday worship service April 18.

The Good Friday service is 7 p.m. April 19

The Easter sunrise service is 7:30 a.m. April 21. Easter services are at 8:45 and 11 a.m. April 21.

The church hosts a free community Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. April 20.

NEW ZION

NORTH WASHINGTON PRESBYTERIAN

North Washington Presbyterian Church, 714 Fairview Road, has a Palm Sunday worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday followed by Sunday school at 10:45 a.m.

The annual Easter egg hunt at Concord Presbyterian Church, 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, is at 1 p.m. Sunday.

OLD UNION PRESBYTERIAN

Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will have a fellowship dinner after the Sunday worship service. Take a dish to share.

There will be a 7:30 p.m. Tenebrae service of darkness April 18. The church will celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

There will be a community Good Friday service beginning with a noon lunch and a 12:45 p.m. service April 19 at Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave.

Old Union will host a “glow party” for the Presbyterian youths from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. All 12- to 18-year-olds are invited.

ORCHARD HILL BUTLER COUNTY

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CONNOQUENESSING

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, will celebrate Palm Sunday with palms and an infant baptism.

A potluck luncheon will follow the worship service.

Church council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The Joint Parish Maundy Thursday 7 p.m. worship service, will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.

The scheduled church grounds clean up is 9 a.m. April 13 and 20.

ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN MARS

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 420 Beaver St., Mars, will conduct 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday worship services.

The First Communion class will meet after the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

There will be an 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning prayer, followed by a noon brown bag lunch and a 12:30 p.m. Bible study.

There will be a 6:15 p.m. choir practice and a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service April 18.

ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN

A church clean up will be held 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Continental breakfast provided.

The youth choir rehearses at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Palm Sunday will have Communion worship and music at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. First Communion will be 10:45 a.m.

The 9:30 a.m. Sunday school will have a Palm Sunday lesson, craft, snack, and egg dyeing. 

“How to Have a New Child by Friday” parenting class by Kevin Lehman begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the basement. The outreach ministry will lead the 2 p.m. Sunday worship service at The Orchard at Saxonburg, 223 Pittsburgh St.

The Cabot Food Bank team meets at 6 p.m. Monday. The annual Maundy Thursday soup delivery will be 4:30 to 6 p.m. April 18, and the worship service begins at 7 p.m.

ST. MARK'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., has a 6 p.m. Saturday worship service and 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship services. Children’s church is 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school for all ages is at 9 a.m.

Children’s hour meets 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with the children going on their annual Easter Walk

Choir practice is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Holy Wednesday service is at 7 p.m. There will be a 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday service April 18.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, will show “Peter Rabbit” in the fellowship hall at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The mystery dinner will be after the 5:30 p.m. Saturday worship service.

Out to lunch at Rey Azteca’s will follow the 11 a.m. Sunday service.

The Luther Bowl will be after the 11 a.m. Sunday service. Church council meets at 7 p.m. Monday.
