Stutz closing on BC3 record

Butler graduate Joel Stutz scored 31 points in Butler County Community College’s 114-88 men’s basketball loss to Potomac State Saturday.

Stutz now has 1,262 points in his career at BC3. He needs 41 points to tie Bryant Lewandowski’s school record of 1,303 points.

The Pioneers host Westmoreland CCC at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Dillon Yonker scored 18 points and Jace Stutz 15 for BC3 Saturday. Potomac State is 21-0 on the year and ranked No. 2 in NJCAA Div. 2.

BC3 (women) 64, Potomac State 51 — Casey Kretzer scored 20 points for the Pioneers (7-11, 3-1). Mackenzie Craig scored 17 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had seven assists.

Carly Burdett scored 19 points and Jenna Heitzenrater had 11 rebounds.

BC3 hosts Point Park at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Slippery Rock 71, Seton Hill 67 — Playing without injured forward and leading scorer Micah Till, The Rock (16-7, 13-3) clinched a home game in the upcoming PSAC Tournament with this road victory.

The Griffins fell to 7-15 overall, 5-11 in PSAC play.

Jared Armstrong paced SRU with 20 points. John Warren II had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, Vinny Lasley 13 points and 13 rebounds, Julius Palmer 10 points.

The Rock hosts Mercyhurst — which is riding an eight-game winning streak — at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Seton Hill 97, SRU (women) 80 — The Rock (9-13, 7-9) wiped out an 11-point deficit in the second half, but could not slow down the Griffins.

Brooke Hinderliter scored 28 points for SRU while Morgan Henderson scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Daeja Quick scored 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had four assists.

Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson had seven points and three rebounds.

Seton Hill had six players in double figures, led by Megan Marecic’s 21 points.

Women’s TennisSlippery Rock (3-2) dropped a 5-2 decision to St. Bonaventure. Viola Lugnayr and Lauren Fadden scored singles victories for The Rock.
