Suspect sought in teen's shooting

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are seeking a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old described as a “high-achieving student.”

Police found 16-year-old Jonathan Freeman shot in a home in the Homewood South neighborhood just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

In a statement, the school district said Freeman was a junior at Pittsburgh Allderdice school. The district said he was “known to always have a smile on his face and was very well-liked.”

The Allderdice school operated on a modified lockdown Thursday.
