PULLING FOR VICTORY

Members of the Butler High School football team, who played for the 1977 WPIAL AAA championship with Penn Hills at Mount Lebanon, lend a hand for another community cause as they pull the Salvation Army’s big drum up Cunningham Street. The traditional drum was placed at Troutman’s corner to raise funds for the Army’s charitable activities during the Christmas season. Pulling for a successful campaign are, from left Tom Frost and Bob Kromer, Golden Tornado varsity players; Richard Miller, of the Salvation Army board; Maj. Robert A. Dries, commander of the local citadel; and BHS players Dan Vissari and Tom McPherson. The community pulled for victory by Tornado team that had already demonstrated it has “heart.”
