CALIFORNIA, Pa. — Seth Ketler and Sam Owori each finished in the top 10 as the Seneca Valley boys cross country team placed second in Class AAA at the WPIAL Cross Country Championships at California (Pa.) University Thursday afternoon.

Ketler placed fourth with a time of 16 minutes, 33 seconds.

Owori was ninth, coming in at 16:51.

The Raiders, who had 84 team points, had four runners place in the top 25.

North Allegheny won the team title with 63 points.

Tigers' junior Daniel McGoey won the individual title with time of 16:01.

The Raiders qualified for the PIAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held Nov. 3 in Hershey, as a team.

The North Catholic girls also qualified for the state championships as a team, placing second in Class A with 117 points.

Vincentian Academy claimed the title with 70 points.

Alaina Hicks placed third overall for the Trojanettes with a time of 20:31. Emma McDonald was also in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish at 21:33.

While the Knoch and Mars girls didn't qualify as a team, each school had a runner with a strong finish.

Sammy Jo Barnes placed sixth overall in the Class AA race, finishing at 20:38.

Mars' McKenna Bowes had a top 10 finish in the Class AAA race, coming in eighth with a time of 19:41.

Both qualified for the state meet.

Rounding out Butler County area individual state qualifiers were: Bailey Royhab and Megan Aaron for the Seneca Valley girls; Braden Zukowski of Knoch, Josh McCoy of Freeport, Skyler Vavro and Aden Dressler of Butler, and Zachary Leachman of Mars.
