Man arrested for drug possession

Steven Ramsey

Butler police arrested a Lawrence County man after they allegedly caught him Sunday with a veritable smorgasbord of drugs.

Steven G. Ramsey, 32, of Ellwood City is accused of felony possession of crystal methamphetamine, LSD, oxycodone pills and marijuana vape pens. He is being held in Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.

Butler police Lt. Brian Grooms was on patrol about 4:30 p.m. when he spotted two vehicles parked along the 200 block of South Monroe Street. Three people were in one of the cars, police said, and the other car was empty.

One of the persons, Ramsey, appeared to be trying to hide something in his shorts, according to court documents, and the officer asked all three occupants for their identification.

A subsequent pat-down search of the defendant turned up seven marijuana vaporizer pens. The hand-held device is used to inhale vapor infused with THC that is derived from marijuana oil.

Police also found a pouch on the vehicle floor where Ramsey had been sitting.

Inside the pouch, according to documents, were 12 pills of the opioid painkiller oxycodone, four pill capsules filled with suspected LSD and two small glass containers with suspected crystal meth.

The other occupants in the car, police said, told Grooms they were there to purchase a marijuana vape pen from Ramsey.

The defendant during an interview at the station “admitted being there to sell one of the (marijuana) vape pens,” according to a police affidavit.

He denied, however, that the pouch was his, police said.

District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Ramsey on multiple felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
