B’NAI ABRAHAM

Congregation B’nai Abraham, 519 N. Main St., has a grand rededication of the sanctuary/Simchat Torah service at 7 p.m. Sunday. Evening events include music by the Rodef Shalom Adult Choir of Pittsburgh, singing and dancing with the Torahs and a Torah “Wrap” in which one Torah will be unrolled. There is a festive dessert, Oneg, after the service.

BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68 has special music by Gordon Thompson for Caravan Sunday.

CABOT UNITED METHODIST

Cabot United Methodist Church, 707 Winfield Road, Cabot, has its monthly community meal at 5 p.m. Wednesday. This month, St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot, hosts the meal. The meal is free.

CHRIST COMMUNITY UNITED METHODIST

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, has a table from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. at Boscov’s. To help, contact Larry Garvin.

Breakfast is available from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Oz Hall.

The charge conference is at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Crossfire Campus on Route 8. There is no youth group Sunday.

COMMUNITY LIFE

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN

The people for peace study group meets at 11 a.m. today in the assembly room at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.

The Ananias Mission of Cranberry Township are guests Sunday at the Seekers class. The project helps Syrian refugees resettling in North America.

The church celebrates social justice Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Covenant choir and the Slippery Rock University Brass Quintet provide music for the service which is in cooperation with the Butler Interfaith Network.

FIRST BAPTIST

The women’s missionary fellowship of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Baptist Youth Center. Take a lunch.

Sunday’s service schedule includes Dan Smith of Pressing On Ministries speaking at the 11 a.m. worship service. There is a luncheon after the service, and there also is a 1 p.m. worship service.

A van leaves the church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for the annual Senior Saints fall color tour. Fellowship, lunch, a hymn sing, devotions and a camp ministry update is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Slippery Rock Baptist Camp. The event also includes a visit to Emmett’s Orchard.

FIRST ENGLISH LUTHERAN

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., hosts an organ and piano recital by George Armstrong and Signe Mitchell at noon Friday. The program includes compositions of Buxtehude and Bach to mark the 500th anniversary of the times of Martin Luther.

GRACE @ CALVARY LUTHERAN

Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., opens Grace’s Closet, a free clothing bank, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19.

There is a property work day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

New members will be received during the Sunday worship service. There is a 2018 planning meeting for the youth group afterward.

Church members lead worship at 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday at LIFE Butler County, 231 W. Diamond St. To participate, be at the church by 10:40 a.m.

GRACEWAY

GraceWay meets at the Center Township Elementary School on Mercer Road.

HILL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The Rev. Liddy Barlow leads the Presbyterian women’s thank offering service Sunday at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.

The choir practices at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Intersection

A seminar on religious freedoms and rights of conscience, and how to protect your family, church, ministry or business, is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Intersection Church, 120 Walker Ave. The event is free. Call 717-545-0600 to make a reservation.

The church and Crossover Kidz Ministry have a Fall-o-ween event with glow rooms, crafts, games and a movie from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

MARS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The deacons of Mars United Presbyterian Church, 232 Crowe Ave., Mars, meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room.

There is a collection box in the Tarry ‘N Talk for used cards. Concordia uses them to make new cards to sell for charities.

NEW ZION EVANGELICAL CONGREGATIONAL

Bill Kenyon, a representative of Gideons International, is the guest speaker during the Sunday worship service at New Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, 1195 Airport Road, Emlenton.

The Gideons are a network of Christian businessmen who distribute Bibles to hotels, students and servicemen and at public gatherings.

NORTH MAIN STREET CHURCH OF GOD

North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., begins Upward Sports registration Oct. 23. To register for winter basketball or cheerleading, visit upward.org and search for North Main or 16001.

Open gym begins the first week of November. Practices start the week of Jan. 8 and games are Saturday mornings beginning Jan. 20.

Driven Youth serves dinner for children at 5 p.m. Oct. 26 at Fishbone Ministries, 200 Faith Way.

NORTH BUTLER PRESBYTERIAN

North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 North Butler Church Road, Chicora, has a soup luncheon after worship Sunday. Take a favorite soup, bread or snack to share.

SAINT ANDREWS UNITED PRESBYTERIAN

The local vocal group Uptown Girls will provide music at the worship service Oct. 22 at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St.

To provide dinners for youths on Wednesdays, sign up in the narthex.

The fall rummage sale is Oct. 20 and 21.

SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN

Springdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, opens the church basement at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday for members to leave baked goods. Pie baking is Friday.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Members of Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township, leave the church at 8:45 a.m. Saturday to travel to Shaker Woods.

There are blood-pressure screenings after the service Saturday and between the Sunday services.

The Butler Lions Club provides free eye screening for children under 7 in the fellowship hall during the Sunday school hour. Out to lunch is after the 11 a.m. Sunday service at the 11th Frame at Family Bowlaway.

The church council meets at 7 p.m. Monday.

Holden evening prayer is at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The quilting ladies meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 at the church.
